  1. Our daughter was the same way - we finally just stopped having it on because there was almost no getting her attention off of it!  I read an article one time that said that too much early television watching could result in ADD down the road (like the baby is so over-stimulated that when they are put in a situation where they are expected to sit in a classroom and listen to a teacher talk, it's not enough for them...)  I don't know how true it is, but to be on the safe side, we decided not to let her watch tv at all (unless it is a Baby Einstein video which has only one thing going on at a time - and she only watches this when I have something that I need to get done, and I need her to be both entertained and safe, which only happens like once a month!)

  2. My daughter was fascinated by the TV when she was 2-5 months.  Babies at this age don't WATCH the TV as much as look at it because of the colors/movement.  It was great distraction when at restaurants.  She is now 7 months and couldn't care less about the TV- I guess it is old news to her now!  I don't think there's any more harm in letting a baby watch TV than watch the lights and colors on one of those baby aquarium things (or the like).  It's when they get older and don't get other interaction/stimulation except for TV that you should worry. (btw, my daughter liked the screen saver on the computer, too!)

  3. I'd recommend not letting young children watch TV because they get addicted to easily. My baby sister (she's four years old now) started watching TV early and we didn't do anything about it. Now she spends about five or even six hours a day watching TV and throws horrible temper tantrums if we don't allow her to. It's fine to turn on the occasional kid's show but otherwise it's best not to. Children should learn to entertain themselves and develop interests in their surroundings.

  4. At this age tv is just a bunch of spinny lights and colors. It is not the right kind of stimulation baby needs.

  5. maybe tv an hour a day but thats it

  6. He is interested in it because of all the movement and the colours. It isnt recommend to let children watch tv until they are 2 years old but if he want too go ahead! I dont think you should let him watch more than one show a day. You dont want him to always want to watch tv. Have him far enough away that he can still see it and not really close. My boys like tv too (just over 5 months) and they liked dragon tales (with there siblings) and believe it or not x men the movie (which I was watching with my b/f) They loved the action!

  7. the american association of pediatrics says NO TV at all for children under the age of 2. how is he even getting to see these shows enough to be interested???

he should not be watching tv. a 4 mos old will be content to lay on a blanket and play with toys or just observe the world around him. letting a baby watch tv will contribute to having learning disorders like ADHD in the future. wait until he is 2, for him and for you!! easier to avoid tv now than have to deal with a hyper active kid who gets in trouble at school later!!

  8. Parents should really concern about that, impaired language development due to watching TV by those under 16 months sounds serious!

I am wondering why such findings aren’t spread to inform people about it, if this is just to save the baby media business, I think it’s so cruel of them!
