he's neutered, has his claws and was from a shelter. he's very sweet. gives kisses, will sleep on me, suckles my chin (ew, but sweet) but when he gets hyper, which is often, he will attack me and bite me. usually my arms and hands but if they're covered, he will bite my legs too. sometimes (ok, fairly often) he will jump straight from the floor and bite my face (while i'm sleeping or awake). i know he might be teething but is there any technique i can use to get him to stop biting. he's starting to draw blood more and more often. i think he's just playing and not angry (since he starts it, it's not like i'm doing something to tick him off) but it's just not ok.

thanks :)

  1. I no how you feel. I have a four year old cat that used to bite my face all the time. But she stoped. idk how..

  2. My siamese cat is like that.  She has been that way since she was little, she is almost 5 years old now.  Get a squirt bottle and spray the cat every time he bites.  Scold him.  Discourage that behavior now.  I'm about ready to have my cat put to sleep, that attacking is just unacceptable.  A few times I have been really harsh with the cat and that seems more effective than just saying no, actually hitting her.  The last bite took 3 weeks to heal.  I will be reading the answers you get to see if any of them might help with my cat.  Good luck.

  3. keep a little water gun or squirt bottle near by - every single time he bites you give him a squirt.  He'll learn real fast if you are consistent.

  4. My Oliver is 15 weeks old and is doing that too.  I know he's teething.  I don't believe in hitting and I hardly use the water bottle anymore.  I think he's actually starting to like getting sprayed.  LOL.  What I've done is I've got him some chew toys.  For example a long feathery thing on a stick is his favorite.  I got mine at the dollar store so they are cheap.  Also little stuffed animals designed for animals is great.  He has a little mouse and a little Rafiki from the Lion King movie.  He loves to carry them around and chew on them.  Also my kitty loves those cabala bracelets.  You know the ones you get for donating to different cancer organizations.  He can chew on them and they don't break.  So next time your cat chews on you just trade your arm or hand in for a toy.

  5. It's normal.  It usually means kittens are playing.  My kitten likes to do that (jump on your hand and bite) nut it should get better over time.  Just say no when he's doing it to the point that it hurts.  And if he scratches you or leaves a mark, spray some water in his face.
