My amps blew out my alternator, i have a warranty that still is in effect but wont cover a alternator that has been killed by after market product. Now somehow i dont think that just stripping the car of all wires will eliminate foul play. I know a diagnostic check cant find the reason but is there anything that could tip the dealership that a amp blew it out. Also, knowing this i have tried to get it fixed, so the mechanic rebuilt it (i think) and called me and said that it cant be fixed by anyone other than the dealership. Now by him tampering with it,will that void out the warranty...i already called him and he said accidents, after market are the ways to void it out. Will a rebuilt alternator hurt me now....

  1. By law a dealership cannot deny you the option of installing aftermarket parts unless they offer an aftermarket equivalant(they dont offer an aftermarket remote start alarm you want one they can not void your warrenty cause they dont offer it from the factory) but in my opinion your alternator did not blow because of some amps you might have put in. It was something that was gonna happen anyway.

But if you want the dealer to fix it and its under warrenty your best bet is to play dumb (i dont know i bought it from you guys) because any trained mechanic can tell the difference when something isnt stock or even if it has been rebuilt.
