Question:

My angelfish lay eggs but are eating them. I whant the parents to be able to rase the fry what should I do?

Is their anything (besides removing the eggs) that I could do?

  1. fish do not raise their young...immediately move the fish (not the eggs) into another tank or it will contnue to eat them...same whith once they hatch and until they are large enough to defend themselves.


  2. get a mesh sort of thing and place it 1 or 2 inches from the bottom of the tank and the eggs should be able to fall through to the bottom and they parents cant go through and once all of the eggs are laid then move the parents

  3. Angelfish like many other cichlids do indeed protect their fry.     If  they are in a community tank the chances of survival are low.  The best thing to do if you want to breed angel fish is have a species only tank with a proven pair.   Fry should be removed to another tank at 5-6 weeks or their feeding on the parents will weaken the parents to the point of death
