I play high school soccer and usually a month into our season my ankles begin to bother me, not when I run, but sometimes when I go to kick or move or move them at an odd angle. Its now the off season and I'm trying to improve my distance running and I can already start to feel them bothering me. I am 6' 1" and about 190 lbs, right now I am running on concrete, but for soccer we only run on grass. The pain is never enough for me to really suffer from it, but I know that its there, and that I should correct it. What should I do?

  1. i gets sore ankles sometimes when i run to. so i went to the local pediatrist and they gave me orthotics (you put them in ur shoe) and i have now had them for 1 year and my ankles have only hurt/ached about once or twice they really do work. although othotics can be expensive from 170-220 australian dollars, but they do really help ur feet, which then help ur ankles.

    hope this helped, good luck.

  2. Well Sir. I don't know if this helps a lot. But have you considered looking into your diet? If you have a lot of high purine sources this may be a cause of uric acid.

Or if possible consult a doctor about your problem.

  3. sounds to me you got weak ankles compared to your size, try strengthening them by firstly standing barefoot one foot at a time for say 30 secs per foot every other day 5x per foot and increase over a few weeks - the standing. not the time. and do this for the rest of your sporting life and beyond - also trying making it more intense by holding a pair of dumbells

  4. hey,

I'm in high school too and I love playing sports the same thing happens to me too! whenever I play sport sometimes my ankles start playing up so I bought an ankle supporter from the chemist which has helped alot. I try not to let my ankle put me down from doing the things that I love

  5. Are you wearing running shoes? I advise running shoes with a bounce in them so your feet wont suffer as much.
