Ok why do older people usually underestimate kids that are younger than them. First of all, people who are that age think it's pretty rude... Second of all, people act like it applies to everyone of that type.. for example.. someone in another question stated an 11 year old can barely pronounce puberty, heck I knew how to when I was 7.. and I also am mad in school when they never challenge me.. in kindergarten I knew every number up to a billion or trillion and nobody cared, yet a kid got on tv for counting to 25 which i think is not amazing for a kindergartner, people are overexxagerating the situation... People think im too young for certain stuff and too young to know a lot.. I know a lot for my age actually and I get mad when people keep saying im not what i am because they just LOOK at me. Thats it. I HATE THIS!! How can you prevent people from underestimating you? My cousin for example who is 15 didnt even think I knew the pythagorean theorem or negative numbers or leverage!

  1. Well from what I read, you do sound pretty intelligent for your age. And I don't think you can prevent people from doing that. Most people judge by the cover, thats it. You just gotta ignore them, or get known. You know? Are you really 11? Because I know some of my friends can't spell as good as you, and they are 15-16 too.

EDIT: Geeze, you know I really hope you don't get bored with school. I'm sort of like you. I know a LOT of medical terms. I watch Discovery Health channel everyday. So I know a lot about the body. When I start answering questions on here or in real life, people are like Whoah!

Well my freshmen year in high school, it was SO EASY, i just wanted to quit and not do anything. so this year I took two math and two science classes, to toughen up my load. Its better. I actually got mad because its pretty hard. So you'll just have to wait it out until high school when you can be the one picking your classes and people won't judge you as much. And I hope the adults don't diagnose you with ADD. Because one of my friends, his teachers said he has ADD and he needs testing. His parents said don't bother. Well he went to college, and now hes studying to be a doctor. So for now, you just have to ignore those types of people. Or try to prove yourself to them.

I think I'd rather talk to you in real life, rather than people at my school. They are seriously really dumb.

  2. I can relate. I taught myself how to read at the age of three and a half with nothing but a demo casette tape on phonics. Soon after, I was reading doctors' pamphlets. The reason for my being overlooked? I have some issues with self-confidence. I constantly say negative things about myself, and can't take a compliment. If you're anything like me, that's probably why you're overlooked. If people get the feeling you are not confident about your abilites, they will think you have none. If you show what you know instead of focusing on the negative aspects of things, (which, trust me, I'm working on!), I believe you'll definitely see a change in peoples' views of you.

  3. all i can say is to prove them all wrong. i'm 16 and i knew the pythagorean theorem at your age, and heck i built a hovercraft in the 4th grade!

  4. how does 1+1=3?

  5. you cant spell and your grammer sucks!
