Question:

My antenna is connected to my analog TV through my analog VCR. Can I use one converter box for both? How?

The current set-up allows an analog signal feed to my VCR, for recording purposes, and to my TV for normal viewing. I use coax from the antenna to the VCR "antenna in" and from the VCR "antenna out" to the TV "antenna in". For VCR playback through the TV I use an RCA cable from "video out" on the VCR to "video in" on the TV and dual RCA cables from "audio out" on the VCR to "audio in" on my stereo receiver (for sound playback through my audio receiver and speakers). I just bought a converter box, but am unclear how to connect it so that I can record programs off the air once February 2009 arrives, while also allowing a digital feed to my TV. Suggestions are welcome!

  1. HI Phil in LV:I am also on an antenna. There has been a lot of miss infor. on DTV converters. There are 8,881broadcast TV licenses issued.Only 1,759are full service subject to mandatory DTV transition Feb.09.The remaining 7,122TV stations are ClassA or low power analog & are not required to go digital. In your case here is how I would connect.Antenna, converter in, out to VCR in,out to TV in.This assumes that your converter is RF/Analog bypass(such as PhilcoTB100HH9). If not, then, antenna to Splitter or A/B switch, one out to converter, then converter out to one of the 2 splitter ports( splitter turned backwards), then single output of splitter to in of Vcr, out to TV.The other output of the 1st Splitter or A/B switch connects to the other port on the Splitter. This will give you the capability to switch off the power to the converter & allow you to still pick up any Analog Tv stations that you presently do.Follow the infor. & draw it out. It will be much clearer then. Good luck.  exbelltel
