Question:

My apartment complex management staff is really ticking me off...?

Over the last few months, they have served me with a lease violation for not paying my pet deposit. I paid it 4 years ago when I moved in. When I went to their office to protest, their regional manager checked the file, agreed that I had paid it and gave me in writing that it was not due. A couple months later, they had their courtesy patrol (who does not respond when they are needed) serve me with a delinquent rent notice that did not have my name on it, or my apartment number. Today, I find a notice on my door that they came to clean my carpet, but my pets were not put away. It isn't scheduled until September 5! And they did not notify me of their intent to do it early. Their letters are illiterate, improper punctuation and capitalization, they try to sound all intelligent by using big words but just come off as ignorant. Would it be a bad idea to contact the owner of the property?

  1. h**l yeah

Present the arguments and the evidence.  Present the invalid accusations, with reasons why they are not valid.

Basically, I reckon you should do what you just posted, but using more paper.

Good luck! By the way - I have no legal qualifications.

  2. If the regional manager did not solve the problem, and there 'courtesy patrol' didnt either, the next step would be to go directly to the property owner. You have your rights as a renter, they vary by location but I would look into legal action. If they treat one person like this they probably treat the entire complex the same way. Hope this helps!
