  1. I'm curious as to why you can't get satellite at your location. Typically as long as you have a clear view of the south western sky, you should be able to receive a signal. If you live out in the middle of NOWHERE, with no major cities around, I would think that an Antenna would not help either, as there are no local stations being broadcasted anywhere close. Try calling DirecTV and speak to someone about it. The issue may just be that there are no installers in the area. They'll be able to send someone, but they might charge you for making a long trip, which is better than NO TV at all. Give them a call, 1-800- DIRECTV.

  2. It is quite possible that it can. But, you will only pick up local stations.

Satellite and cable just give you a great selection to include digital.

  3. If you can't get TV through cable, satellite, or antenna, your only other option is high speed Internet.

(Unless you know somebody who can record the shows on DVDs and ship them to you. If you frequently visit someone who has TV service, I can think of ways to creatively swap out 2 TIVOs or DVRs.)

There are a bunch of websites where you can watch all sorts of channels for free. Start with hulu.com

The quality isn't that great, but it's better than nothing.

(Warning: There are a lot of spammers on the Internet trying to sell software that will give you the same programing that you can get for free.)

There is also a device sold as a "slingbox" which can send TV programing over high speed Internet. For example, if you had a friend somewhere that could get TV signals. They could  connect the slingbox to their TV source and a high speed Internet connection. You could then receive the programing through your computer that's attached to a high speed Internet connection.

In  regards to not being able to get satellite or antenna. If you  are not sure about this you might want to add some details to your question. For example, the only reason I know of for not being able to get satellite service is where there is something blocking your line of sight to the satellites above the southern horizon (in the Northern Hemisphere).

Likewise you might add who told you what about antenna reception. Details like your zip code, distance to local transmitters, and what is between your antenna and local transmitters are important details.

Do you get your local TV channels from the satellite or is there a TV antenna attached to the satellite receiver? Can you move your satellite dish to a location where the leaves aren't in the way?
