My ascer aspire 5101 does

Question

my ascer aspire 5101 does not power up correctly - it powers up for one second then switches itself off. If i try to power up again a few seconds later it does not power up at all.
If i remove the battery and plug in the AC adapter the computer still will not boot.

The battery gets charged ( indicator changes from orange to green ).

If i try to boot with battery only then it will do so and then switch itself off after one second the same with the AC connected.

However when i try to boot with the AC and the battery connected a few seconds later then there is no boot up at all.
