i'm 16 and my optometrist told me that i have astigmatism, he gave me eyeglasses for me to see better (I'm nearsighted)

should i wear it always like morning until evening before sleeping or can i use it only whether i really need to use it like when reading far away objects like in school or when using computers and watching TV

does not wearing those eyeglasses would make my astigmatism worser or it will just stay the same ?

anyone there that's just like me ?

any optometrist there to answer my question ?

  1. i have astigmatism. its a condition you're born with. but i dont wear my glasses all the time. only when watching tv, reading, using laptop .etc. . . i'm not sure if its true that not wearing glasses can worsen astigmatism. my brother has a very bad case of astigmatism and has been wearing glasses since he was 5. he's now 12 and its not getting better nor worse.. the only way to fix it is my laser surgery.

  2. I'm long sighted in my left eye and i'm short sighted and have an astigmatism in my right eye. I wear glasses for the same reason you do and have been since I was 18.

I would suggest you wear your glasses. Your only wearing them for watching tv, computer, reading and when you start driving. It's not like you need them all day. I imagine you would make it worse if you don't wear them.

  3. I'm nearsighted and have astigmatism, but I wear my glasses all the time. I feel more comfortable wearing them.

Not wearing your glasses won't make you more nearsighted or more astigmatic, but you will be straining to see distant objects clearly, and you might end up with tension headaches (and frown lines!). If you're not keen on wearing glasses 24/7, why not ask about disposable contacts?

  4. I have astigmatisum and nearsightness along ith a bunuch of ther c**p...

Well, if you REALLY dont want to wear your glasses...Wearing glasses as often as possible will help. Astigmatisum is basically seeing blurry without glasses. I myself prefer being able to see things. (My corrected vision isnt even close to 20/50!)

If you dont like the look of glasses, you could inquire about contacts, that way you can see everything corrected. :D

Oh, by not wearing the glasses, your astigmatisum will not get worse.
