  1. guinea pigs actually can't tolerate heat--b/c they came from the mountains of Chili, so they're more acclimated to colder temperatures, but living outside will expose them to much harsher temperatures (both warm & cold) than they can tolerate. also, living outside exposes them to ticks, fleas & a bunch of other diseases/parasites which could infect the guinea pig! & just like the others, it makes them vulnerable to any predators (cats, raccoons, birds, etc...). it also makes them not as close to the owners, because the owners won't see them on a regular basis.

it's a much better idea to have guinea pigs who live inside (they tend to live longer) than outside! :) you'll get healthier, happier piggies :D

  2. yes - fluxuating temperatures outdoors can kill a small animal, too hot can cause heat stroke, too cold, they will freeze. there are also alot of parasites and diseases a small animal can get from the outdoors (especially one that is used to living inside) that can make them seriously ill

  3. 1. They will become a birds dinner.

    2. they CANNOT live outside or will/can become VERY sick, They could et a fever/ catch a cold/ eat somthing they shouldent

3.They could get cold and die

4.they can fry under the sun and turn a crispy golden brown.... alright if your making fried chicken...... trust me my moms rabbit accidently did this.

5.they cant stand cold wather and can be allergic to some outdoor things esspecially ceder.

Over all guinea pigs should not live outside, there are so many other risks besides what ive said here. like change of atmosphere ot upsets them, being alone alot and not in a cozy comfy well gaurded house and also one he escapes out of his cage.. EVEN IF YOU HAVE A FENCE, hes as good as gone (most of the time it dosent hurt to look. ) but unless wild, rodents should live inside.

  4. I kept my guinea pigs outside for a good while. I put them in an outdoor cage.. it was a while ago so I'm not sure if I did bring them in at night.

Anyways, here were the problems I experienced:

    1. Not sure whether it was a few or just one guinea pig was able to escape from the cage. It would go off, but every time it would come back.

    2. My neighbour had a cat that he/she liked to unleash, and I found one of my guinea pigs had a scratch (like a paw scratch) on her back near her bum as if a cat had tried to snatch her and she got away.

    3. This has never happened to me but birds can probably swoop down and grab them.

    4. The temperature can fluctuate and may not be good for the little piggies.

    5. They may overeat.. I kept them in a cage designed for outside.. it was sort of a high hexagon shape and it had no roof but it was definitely too high for any guinea pig to climb.

    6. They can get heat stroke if they're out in the strong beams of the sun for too long

So yeah.. I eventually ended up giving away all but two :( because they kept having more and more babies. I hope that helped!

  5. well, here's a good reason

If they are kept outside, they will die.

It'll be too cold for them, and some birds might swoop down and cause havoc, and other animals like raccoons or stray cat can come and terrorize it too.
