My autistic 5 year old keeps crashing my computer. do u know of special programmes/computers for exploring kid

i am buying a new computer and dont want this one destroyed. he gets into control panel and changes advanced settings the minute my back is turned. i cant ban him as he loves mainly playing games and looking at our photos etc.

You could try making the control panel invisible.  Under properties, mark the folder as Hidden.  Then remove the option from the start menu.  (To reveal the Hidden folder, Tools - Options, and there is a radio button "show hidden folders as visible".)  There is also a checkbox of "show control panel under My Computer" -- uncheck that.

Have an administrator password for you, and have a separate login for him.

Why don't you TURN IT OFF when it's not in use and PASSWORD PROTECT IT... that should keep him busy for a while.

Why not do what we did if your child gets disability living allowance buy him his own PC it doesn't have to be anything fancy just something for him to use, my son Thomas (9) has severe autism and has had his own PC for years now...and so far so good its still in one piece !

maybe make him a limited account that doesnt have the privileges to change things

that way your settings are safe and he can still play =)

why dont you supervise him while hes on the computer. I personally wouldnt allow any 5 year old, autistic or not on the computer by themselves

the best  way  is if you want him to use the computer  just create a account  for him  where you can let him or her play or wherever he wants to do by creating a second account  he will not have a full access or just go to control  panel and activate the guest account  you may want to tray using a password make sure not to loose it for your account  or if you want just activate the guest account and use it as normal but just select Wat account you want to log in it will limit the access to some things like control panel or other programs but you can put that staff on the sheared folder and you will be all set NOTICE any thing you want him to access pictures music or any thing just put it into the sheared folder pictures or some games most of it will go to the guest account automatically  but will not have access to control panel  REMEMBER if you open another account make sure you don't make the account as administrator keep the administrator account  only for you to do changes on the control panel how ever he will be able to shut it off  if it is the problem you wont be able to stop it
