Our agreement was that if I don't pay when the balance is due at the beginning of its insured month it would be immediately terminated and I didn't pay so I thought it would have been terminated like they said but a month later they sent me a bill for two weeks. Is there anything I can say in my defense?

  1. Probably what happened is that the insurance company by law in most states has to give you a grace period when it's a renewal.  So if you policy ends for non-payment on the 30th, you'll usually get a cancellation notice that gives you until the 14th or so.  Cancellation then takes effect on the 14th.  Sounds like they have billed you for this grace period.

Non-payment is not enough - you have to notify them in writing to cancel on the 30th.  What should work at this point is showing them that another policy went into effect on the 30th or that the vehicle was sold.

  2. Thank you for your question. That set me a good example. My auto insurance is almost expired this month. I think the same way you thought, but it seems i still have to let them know that i wanna terminate the policy to not get your experience, man.

  3. well if you dont pay they cancel dont see any problem
