I went for my 12 week checkup yesterday and they had a hard time picking up the heartbeat but they did get it...and he said it was about 135-140 beats per minute, and he said that is a strong healthy heartbeat...but is it normal for it to still be faint? im a lil bit on the heavier side...idk if that has anything to do w/ it..he didnt seem worried or anything..he said as long as we heard it thats all that matters...but im just wondering if its normal for it to still be faint...thanks in advance :)

  2. I believe that's perfectly normal!  My doctor couldn't even find my baby's heartbeat until 13 or 14 weeks I cant remember but it wasn't that loud.. Last time I went I was 17 weeks and it was much louder so I think it being faint is perfectly fine for 12 weeks. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy!

  3. That's a normal heartbeat, 12 weeks is still early to hear the heartbeat in the doctor's office so faint is okay too, especially if on the heavier side.  Don't worry!

  4. yes its the norm, if like you say your a little on the heavier side and at 12 weeks the heart beat can be a little hard to find they are so small in there and have room to move around but as you get further along it will get easier to find and will get louder and a little tip the boys hearts beat faster then a girls at around 135-145 and girls are around 125-135 so at the moment its in the middle but i bet your having a boy but as long as he/she is healthy then you will be happy and congratulationsxx

  5. 120 to 160 is normal and considered healthy. Females heartbeats tend to be more rapid and males more mellow, just to let you know.

The reason it was hard to find a heartbeat or it seemed 'faint' is due to the extra weight. The heavier you are the harder it is to locate an audiable heartbeat. It shouldn't concern you though because it is common.

  6. thats a normal heartbeat..my babies was 140 and that was considered strong and in the normal range.

  7. Sounds great!  Sometimes at 12 weeks you can't even pick up the heartbeat - it depends a lot on bub's position.  Sometimes they even have problems finding it up until 16 weeks.  At 12 weeks (with a first pregnancy) the top of the uterus is only JUST coming above the pelvic bone - so the baby is still well hidden in there.  Congratulations on making it through the first trimester, and good luck wtih the rest of your pregnancy.
