It won't eat the turtle pellets I give it so I did some research online and learned the certain veggies I could feed it. So i diced up some squash and gave it to him.... he won't eat it!! I don't really want to give it anything live yet...unless thats the only way of him living. Nothings wrong with him he just won't eat! I'm going to try one of the cuttle bones but where to get them??Please be specific!! Thanks ALOT!! Oh yeah also do i put the turtle pellets in the water or somewhere dry!! One more thing... he falls over on his back alot anyway that could be changed?!? thanks again!!

  1. Sorry to tell you but live food is the best. If the turtle has gone for a week or two without food, try a small earthworm. Live fishes (not goldfish) and soft-bodied insects are good too but can't beat earthworms for coaxing a turtle to eat. Once you have it eating, you can feed it strips of liver dusted in bonemeal. That will take the place of a cuttlebone (bird section of a petshop). A piece of limestone or plaster will do just as well as cuttlebone.

Forget vegetables until it gets bigger. Small turtles, like small children, don't eat their vegetables. The turtles know what they are doing.

  2. my red ear sliders did that to and i had them for like 5 years and they would do in like once every two months or soo...sometimes they didnt eat for days .dont worry they will eat but they like crickets so you can feed them crickets too.

  3. there red eard sliders they can be stressed from there new home this is what i did to help my baby to start eating go to a store and try to find hydro life put the both in diff soup bowls and a lil bit of water not very much then put a couple full squirts of hyrdo life i did 4 squirts, and maybe put a pellet in with eat they should start eatin right then and there mine did and i was very happy, now if u dont have proper lighting such as uvb and a uva for the shell and a baskin light they might not eat so good luck im sure it will work

  4. This happened to my 2 of my baby turtles. When they get hungry enough they'll eat. One did it in the winter and the other did it when its tank was changed.Just give it some time.

  5. How long have you had him for.... sometimes they won't eat if put into a new environment.... I would try feeding him some Krill (frozen) just add it into the water... make sure to take any excess out or it will foul the water.... as for turtle pellets just throw them into the water (they float) ... try adding some small feeder goldfish... he will swim after them...

  6. theyu are like my my red ear slider eats when nobody is around they tend to be very shy and make sure you don't even peak they know everything trust me
