I was watching him and he headed tword the food dish. I thought

“ Good, he's going to eat agin.” but he was streaching his neck to eat 1 of his pellets, but his butt was facing me so when he turned 2 face me he had a stool in his mouth. By the time i got my hand in the cage he swallowed it. Is he going 2 be o.k. ?

  1. This is called coprophagy. It is very common for tortoises to eat their own f***s and that of other animals as well. It allows them to get the nutrients that were missed the first time. Disgusting, but safe. A kind of recycling, I guess you could say!

  2. Don't worry, he was just experimenting on what could possibly taste any worse than the c**p you were feeding it....

  3. Animals eat there own **** all the time, its not a problem.

  4. the  poo had undigested fiber form its food in it which is why your tortoise eat it, in the wild when times are hard tortoises will utilize all food sources including poo, if it has undigested food in it the tortoise does not recognize it as poo, just food, nothing to worry about, it won't harm your tortoise
