Question:

My baby ate sand and now he is sick?

A few days ago my son ate a handful of sand while we were at the park. I tried to get as much out of his mouth as I could, but failed at getting hardly any.

Today he spiked a hundred and three fever and is acting very tired. He acts like he has no energy to do anything.

Is there any possibility that the sand had anything to do with this? Possibly a parasite?

  1. Well dunno if this will help or not but I"ve heard kids can get worms from playing in the sand.

  2. I agree with malwilhist, I don't think it was the sand, it's probably just a virus.

I assume you're doing something to keep his fever down?  That's what you should be worried about.

  3. should've been took him to the emergency room you need to take him NOW!!

  4. my baby ate mud, and got fever and a rash, but it is dangerous to have high temperature because he might have a seizure, so you need to keep his temperature down, with light clothes and medication, and you really should take him to hospital emergency, and not let him sleep tonight without seeing a doctor.

  5. It's doubtful that the sand did anything. He probably just got a virus. How is he responding to advil/motrin? I wouldn't do Tylenol--it's not as strong and won't last as long. Is he staying hydrated?

  6. A 103 degree fever and lethargy call for immediate medical attention. Take him to a clinic or hospital immediately.

  7. A high fever like that and acting tired is very serious. I would highly recommend calling his pediatrician during or after business hours and tell them. I hope he feels better soon.
