My baby bearded dragon bit me?

okay i got a baby bearded dragon and he never lets me pick him up when i first got him he was okay but now he doesnt like me. I picked him up but had to struggle holding him cus he wouldnt let me hold him so i put him on my bed and he seemed like he was doing fine he was running around not jumping of the bed but then he did jump off the bed and i went to pick him up and he bit me! and it really hurt but any ideas on hoe to get him to like me better thanks = )

  1. Well, you shouldn't be picking up a baby beardie until it's at least 8" long to prevent accidental injury.  You need to get it used to you before taking it out of the tank.  Never let them loose anywhere that they could fall from easily such as a bed or table.  When he fell he probably hurt himself and hurt/frightened animals get more agressive as a defensive measure.


  2. same way you train a dog just reward him wit a cricket everytime he doesnt bite you and h**l pick it up eventually and when he does bite you just put him someplace he doesnt like

  3. Ok, all reptiles are like that- they need to get used to you first... dont give up on the attempts but try to be.. well friendly? it will get used to you ... no worries!! rememver to keep your hands clean!
