My baby boy Sooty xxxxxx

hello

my baby rabbit sooty died yesterday after we had tp put him dwn because he was very ill.

but i feel like i just cant carry on without him because he has lived with me for more than half my life. i just wish he was back here with me and we could be together again! please tell me what i can do to still make all the memories alive so it wont make me unhappy anymore.

If he was very ill, then you did the best thing for Sooty, at least now he is not suffering.  The pain will ease, maybe sooner than you think.

After all, and I don't mean to be unkind here but, he was only a rabbit, get another.

I stood by your bed last night, I came to have a peep.

I could see that you were crying, you found it hard to sleep.

I nuzzled  to you softly as you brushed away a tear,

"It's me, I haven't left you, I'm well, I'm fine, I'm here."

I was close to you at breakfast, I watched you pour the milk

You were thinking of the many times your hands reached down to me.

I was with you at my grave today, you tend it with such care.

I want to re-assure you, that I'm not lying there.

I walked with you towards the house as you fumbled for your key.

I gently put my paw on you, I smiled and said, "It's me."

You looked so very tired, and sank into a chair

I tried so hard to let you know that I was standing there.

It's possible for me to be so near you every day

To say to you with certainty, "I never went away."

You sat there very quietly, then smiled; I think you knew...

In the stillness of that evening, I was very close to you.

The day is over... I smile and watch you yawning

And say "good-night, God bless, I'll see you in the morning."

And when the time is right for you to cross the brief divide,

I'll rush across to greet you and we'll stand, side by side.

I have so many things to show you, there is so much for you to see.

Be patient, live your journey out... then come home to be with me.

oh sweetie  i have seen your questions over the last few days and seen the battle you have been through, you have done the right thing and what was best for sooty, you have to remember that sooty was your friend as well as a pet, but you have done the best for him i am sure he would not want you to be so sad, but that is going to happen you have been through a lot, your memories will come alive again and one day you will remember the good times you shared, you need to give yourself time to grieve for your lost pet, but it will get easier and you will remember all the fun you had, you have done a brave thing and thought of your beloved bunny he was suffering and what you did was totally unselfish you thought of him before your own feelings, that is never easy, keep your chin up honey and stay strong  you won't always feel so sad, sooty will be with you everyday in your heart and your memories, love like this you never forget, best of luck honey, sorry for your loss, my thoughts are with you at this sad time

Hon,  you will grieve, and part of your heart will always miss Sooty, but in time you'll remember more of the good times.  Just remember that those we love  never leave us.. They live on in our hearts forever..  Honor Sooty by taking good care of yourself...  Bless You

You can't do anything.

Give yourself time, grieving is a slow process.

Just look at any photographs you have of him, keep the cage and everything until you feel ready to let go, just remember him.

That's all you can do.

Look at it this way- would you rather have Sooty in your life, with him suffering and being miserable, or would you rather remember his life and know he is a better place?  It is painful to lose a family member but the only thing you can do is honor their memory and when it's time, welcome another pet into your life and give it all the love that you can.
