My baby can scrape the paint off her crib with her teeth. What should I do?

My one year old daughter has 6 teeth, and when she's in her crib, she will stand up and bite on the railing, taking the paint off. I'm worried that she's swallowing some of it and it could be potentially harmful. Is that dangerous and what should I do to stop it?

  1. Duh, yeah thats dangerous.  Especially if its an older crib that has paint which contains lead.  ALL babies chew on their crib rails (and anything else that gets in their way!).  Maybe its time to buy a newer crib with plastic rails.  But as far as her chewing, nothing will stop that...

  2. I dont care how much it costs you need to get another crib right away.   Your baby is worth the money.  She is getting paint in her mouth and in her body.  Do it now.

  3. Maybe get rid of the crib and offer her some teething toys.

  4. In Canada, we have very strict regulations for baby cribs.

They include no lead based paint, spacing of the bars,

space between matress & railings, etc.

Our baby crib had a plastic cover on top of the railings.

Make sure your crib is compliant with safety standards.

  5. Get rid of that crib pronto and buy a new plastic paint-free crib.

I'm sure, you would do anything to keep your daughter safe.

  6. i would say get a plastic crib. the painted crid isnt very safe for your child. i would get either plastic or metal..

  7. what i did with my first 2 was smear mustard (or something else bitter) on the places they were biting. It worked pretty well.

  8. Get rid of that crib!  The paint shouldn't come off.  Contact the manufactuer and let them know about the problem.  There have been alot of crib recalls lately.  Better to be safe than sorry!

  9. Actually there are plastic protectors you can put on the top of the crib therefore it's not taking the paint off. I believe you could get them at like Walmart Lowes something like that. If not i'm sure you can goolge and find them. This is much cheaper and just as effective. Hope this helps!
