  1. Would you bring a baby home with no food or diapers for it until next payday?

  2. all you need is a heat source and a hiding...if you have a tank thats about  30 gallons then he will be okay for the rest of his life

but while he is a baby he should be fine in anything smaller than 30 gallons..  .....if you can t get a tank he can easily live in somthing like this

what size is your tank or container?

but if you dont have a heat source try taking him outside...if it is hot ...but dont take your eye off him because he will run away....

this might help, a cheap set up

tank you can get for cheap and he can stay there the rest of his life but make sure it has a lid :http://76.162.70.212/images/bincage.JPG

    hiding made out a cup:http://www.showyourlogo.com/sporting-goo...

or a bowl with a hole cut in it.

    bedding: paper towel

and heating: heat pad for like $15 dollars

and i think you have a water bowl

  3. No it most likely won't die if your in a place that isn't really cold. as long as its got a place to hide and you feed and watch it there shouldn't be any problems. It'll be fine until you can get the things it needs.

  4. If you keep your house above 70degrees then heating should be fine.(75 is way better) Make sure there is room in the cage for it to move around.(not a little box but a 10gal is fine for babys.) and feed it 1-2 pinkies a week.(or what ever it should be eating) Also make sure there is a little bowl of water. If these basic requirements are met your fine.(also make sure you hold it every day)

  5. you did it all *** backwards !! you get the knowledge (i.e. a good herp book) first , the set up second, THEN the animal! that's how you avoid asking stupid questions like this! use some common sens next time. these animal are not toys to be bought on impulse! p.s.  put the tank in direct sunlight? you have got to be kidding me.

  6. no it wont die. try putting the tank in direct sunlight like in a window and he will be fine. but next time read up more on it and you would n't be in this mess. also if your corn snake becomes inactive try giving him a warm bath to raise his body temprature.

  7. well if its a baby corn you can start it off in a 10 gallon tank and a small under tank heater.  the snake does need heat though and not from putting the tank in a window...reptiles die that way...the tank gets too hot and cooks the snake.  also another must is substrate for the snake...the best for corns is aspen bedding (zoo med).  next time you get a pet be more prepared...generally you read up on your new pet...research on web and such...then set up its living space...then get the animal.

  8. I started the baby corn I got last year in a 2.5gal tank because she was so tiny and then moved her up to a 10gal tank a couple months ago.  It's fine to start them in something small and as long as you get bigger cages as they get older.  In fact the really little babies prefer small tanks - makes them less nervous since they don't feel as exposed.  For her tank I just have a regular desk lamp next to her tank that's on a dimmer and has a red light bulb.  It's aimed on one end of the tank and she has a temp range of between about 75 and 85 deg with this setup and is healthy and eats her meals no problem.  This should be pretty easy and cheap - the bulb is cheap and you can just use a desk lamp you may already have around.  Rheostats can be more expensive ($10-20 I think) but worst case buy a 40 watt instead of 60 watt bulb and just leave it on full.   They don't see red light so it won't throw off it's day/night cycle.

I know others have said it, but you need to read up on these guys and get the supplies ahead of time.  But, luckily you have a corn snake - they are in general tough buggers.  Give them food, water, heat and food.  No special requirements.  Make sure you have some sort of hide boxes for them though.  These don't have to be bought - you can use film boxes for tiny babies (do people buy film that way anymore though...?) or wash a couple yogurt containers really well, trim them down  and make a hole in the side.  As long as they are small and opaque they should be fine.
