  1. This is going to happen whether you have one duckling or many. . . . they do this when their "protector" is out of their sight.

All of my ducklings did this whether I had one or five.

Make sure the duckling has plenty of warmth,it will settle down and go to sleep.

Not meaning to be mean but you are being too good of a "parent' to the duckling. . . it is you with the seperation anxiety, you are too afraid to leave the duckling alone and too excited about the other eggs that are about to hatch.

  2. give the other ones some time to hatch it took mine up to three days for all of them to hatch and if they don't i would go out and find another baby duckling and that will help. mine always left their mother when they were born he/she will get used to it soon enough

  3. That's because it sees you as it's mother

  4. You're going to have to wait until the others hatch. It's fine if you leave it for a few hours (yes it will cry) as long as you come back.

  5. Hopefully those other little duckies will hatch soon otherwise you should get another little duckling for company..

Muscovy's are some of the most sociable ducks and need duck company

for the time being ..... put a teddy in with him it'll give him the feeling (hopefully) that it's another duckling  ... just until the others hatch ..

which hopefully they will if the eggs were fertile?....

and why didn't the other eggs hatch yet they should... have done by now if the eggs were all set down on the same day?

    ALSO ...

are you keeping him warm? cos if ducks are cold they will start tweeping to get attention .. it should be kept warm by a brooder or a hot water bottle

  6. Why didn't you get two to keep each other company?  Muscovy ducks really hate being alone even more than other kinds.  I wouldn't leave alone until it is a few weeks old.
