So I keep getting this sharp pain in my cervix and I'm wondering is it just the baby pushing down on it? I'm 28 weeks almost 29 so I don't think that there is anything happening yet but I wanted to make sure that it was just the baby and not my cervix dilating the only thing that has me wondering is that I don't actually feel the baby moving when it happens. it's hurts pretty bad it stops me in my tracks every time it happens. I don't recall having this pain with either one of my girls.

  1. i have started getting that sensation but i'm 37 weeks, it started probably a week ago and it is the baby pushing downward. but i can feel the baby moving in other places when it happens too. i'm not sure if it "causes" dilation so check with your doctor.

  2. I got the same pains from my 32nd week on til i delivered. they came and they would go. but it was just this sharp pricking pain in my cervix. so when i asked my doctor about it. he just said that it was my cervix thinning out. i would def. double check with your doctor though.  Just cause you are getting these pains doesnt mean its going to make you dilate all the way. its just getting ready. like i said i had mine since my 32nd week... and i was thinned out completely by the time i was induced, but barely dilated.

    talk to your doctor

  3. OMG! I am having the same thing also! I am like what in the heck is going on! It hurts so bad I cant figure out if its the babies head, feet, hands or what? all I know is that Im scared to see if it will get worse as we get further along, as we are 29 weeks!

Oh I also had this with my daughter, but it was later on in my pregnancy and I was in much more pain I would cry out in pain. I was not dialited and I did not have any mucus plug either. when I went to the hospital the baby had not even dropped, and she had to be delivered by C-sec, the cord was wrapped around her neck to times. But I think its the babies head pushing on the cervix really.

  4. The baby's head might already be in the downward position and he's just turning his head to the right and left. If you're concerned about dilating, call your doc. Maybe try getting on your hands and knees and swaying gently to encourage him to change positions~ this may help!

    Good luck and congrats!
