  1. it sounds like what a normal one month old might do,

but if it is really for hours at a time, you should ask her pediatrician about it.

  2. I have had 4 children and only one had colic but one was enough!!  Read these websites that I have at the bottom of the page and see if there are symptoms similar to your childs?  It was wierd but it just goes away at about 3 months of age.

Could the cold be allergies? asthma?  do you have cat?  a smoker in your home?  scented candles?  try eliminating things one at a time.

It can be so draining when you have a little one that is not happy. It feels terrible not to be able to help her and take away her unhappiness.

Hang in there, you took her to the doctor.so you are doing the right things  you could get a second oppinion to help calm your worries.

Good luck and try to get some rest.

  3. YES ! it's normal she's just not felling well it will go away it takes babies longer to recover from a cold ...also babies can pick -up on your mood maybe cause your scared she is too ,if your really really worried go to another doctor

  4. Maybe she would like a little eucalyptus vapor in her humidifier or a little baby Vick's rubbed on her chest. If she gets a fever, some infant tylenol can help. I know its hard when they're sick but its all part of the process. 1 month olds don't sleep real good anyway.

  5. I do daycare and I would say that isn't normal but have you tried eveything to calm her down, vibration, glider, swaddling her, bouncing with her on an exersize ball, maybe try putting her in a sling, music.  That has to get pretty frustrating.  Maybe try going to another doctor for a second opinion.  Good Luck!

  6. She may have the colic, I had it as an infant and my sister's baby cried constantly for a long time after being born, they had to take shifts, her husband and her, holding her and trying to comfort her which is what mom said about me. My sister's baby is 4 now and just fine.

You should definitely seek medical advice first, see if she has an ear infection or temperature or anything that is making her cry so much, but if they come up negative, it may just be the colic. Some babies do that.

I found with my daughter, who cried constantly after feedings, I used Dr. Brown's bottles as well as putting a drop of the gas stuff they sell (forget the name) in with the solution and slowly stirring, it gets rid of most the bubbles. NEVER shake the bottle (if you are bottle feeding). for her, that almost completely eliminated the problem. The bubbles in the formula are air, and in a new baby stomach air travels through their delicate system and causes a lot of pain, sort of like we have pain when we ate something that doesn't sit with us, or a stomach flu.

Hope that helps, most new babies don't like the bath, it's scary to them. My daughter used to CRY with her bath at that age and then I would get in the bath with her and just hold her in my arms and she liked it.

Don't worry, I have only one child and I remember the first year of her life I worried up a storm over every little thing, it is normal to be that way.

  7. My Son Was Like That When He Was Younger..I Just Stayed Up With Him And Tried Too Calm Him Down.

  8. That's what baby's do.  The first several months....sometimes until the first year, they will wake up during the night crying and fussy.

Babies cry for a number of reasons.  When I had my boys, I went down the list.

    Wet or poopy?

    Hungry?

    Gas? (needs to be burped?)

If it was none of that, I would walk around singing gently or humming.  If that didn't work, I'd lay him on the bed and gently massage his legs and arms.  If THAT didn't work, I would think 'well, maybe he's still got gas' and hold his knees together, gently pushing them into his tummy to make him pass the gas.  If that didn't work, I'd call the doctor in the morning.

It could be that your baby is sick or has acid reflux or colic or thrush or a number of things.

Trust your doctor.  They know what they are doing.  If you are still worried, call his/her office.  Right now.  There's someone on call (even if it isn't your doctor) that can answer your questions and put your mind at ease.

Congratulations on your new baby, and good luck!

  9. Hun...not to make you feel bad bc I do feel that you are a very loving mother that realizes her mistakes!! I have heard that babies that were exposed to smoke inutero are usually more likely to develp colic and have breathing problems and they can have nicotine withdraws too..which maybe your biggest problem!! Are you breastfeeding? If so she could get the nicotine from your breast milk still if you are still smoking!! Is your pediatrician aware that you smoked during pregnancy...this could be a contributing factor!! It may be something you have to let work itself out!! Best of Luck Hun!!
