I couldn't nurse our son past 5.5 mths and our daughter is 7 mths so I'm in uncharted territory.

She lets me know she hungry so i go to feed her. She wants to feed lying on her tummy with her head twisted right round! She takes 2 sucks then pulls off, laughs at me and then goes back on. She also likes to rock while feeding.....basically she just seems to want to play while nursing.

Any other nursing mums have this with their 'older' bubs?

  1. so cute!!

My son is 6.5months old & sometimes when he is nursing, he'll stop, stretch, smile at me & continue to nurse, i just melt when he does this, he's so sweet!! Sometimes he tries to 'talk'..  when he is nursing i whisper 'i love you' & he just laughs.. <3

    God Bless

  2. Hi, I breastfed both of my babies until their 1st birthdays. And yes sometimes they do like to play!! I found they done it more when they were eating solids. It was as if they were only using me for comfort and a quick drink!! Well done on feeding both your babies for so long. You have given them the best start in life!  Good luck hun & stick it out!! xx

  3. Breastfeeding is a two way street, both parties have to respect certain boundaries.  Poor behaviour during breastfeeding can be some of the easiest to correct because the baby's desire to nurse is so strong, on the other hand it can also be the hardest in some cases.  Basically you just have to teach baby that when they do the wrong thing they don't get to nurse (for a little while) until they behave.

I'm nursing a 2.5 year old and a 9 month old.  You just work through it.

    Nursing Manners

Kneading, patting, twiddling, scratching, pinching, grabbing mom's nose, biting, pulling at mom's shirt, playing with or pulling mom's hair, blowing raspberries on mom's breast, nursing standing up, nursing upside down, acrobatic nursing...

Does any of this sound familiar??

  4. I'm a 1st time mum to a 4 month old who is being breastfed,so probably not much use to you.

I just wanted to say how familiar it is though. My daughter starts feeding and comes off after a minute or so to smile at me,laugh, tries to flop her head back to watch the lights or her hands, anything really!

I know it can be fustrating but just be patient.Congratulations on breastfeeding also.

  5. awww...

obviously that doesnt help you much, and she needs to nurse, but i just wanted to say i thought it was cute.
