  1. Yes a bath is safe everyday, although it might dry out your babies skin.  You really should try and stop her using the cotton buds!!  If your baby isn't constipated she should leave her alone and let nature take it's course.  Wind might be causing the pain, not because she can't go to the toilet.  A bath might help her poo!!

Only tepid water though, not hot water, use your elbow to see how hot it is not your hand

  2. i would recommend you go back to your doctor and ask him for something like duphalac (an osmotic laxative that is save to use for babies from 1 month of age).

my middle son used to get very constipated as a baby and that is what my doctor gave him.

tell your wife to stop putting cottonbuds up your babie's bottom, she could do a lot of harm. if your doctor feels that she needs immediate relief he can always prescribe her a babylax e***a, but i doubt she'll need that.

anyway, get your doctor to do the treating, not your wife. even if she starts having a go at you for stopping her, don't give in.

about the bathing, it is quite safe to bath a baby every day.

  3. I started bathing my baba every night from 3 months as part of his bed routine, bath, bottle and bed. Water is only luke warm tho.

As for cotton buds.... No. We are advised not to use these so we do not damage or hurt baby.

If she's not pooping good you can give her cooled boiled water to help or if she is on formula milk, maybe change brand. You ca also massage the belly, that is really effective. You can get a baby massage book or look it up on net.

  4. No offense, but did anyone else cringe as they read this post? I can't help but feel for that baby. Someone who knows what they are doing really needs to step in and teach these parents how to care for that baby in a safe and healthy way.

  5. Ok the cotton buds are a HUGE no, but it's perfectly fine to bathe the baby every day.

  6. Good Lord! Are either of you old enough and/or mature enough to be caring for an infant ????

In your mind, what is the connection between cotton buds, constipation, and daily bathing.  I am totally confused.

Baby actually will benefit from daily bath.  It removes bacteria and "debris" from life on earth.

If your wife (or anyone ) is placing "cotton buds" in baby's r****m, she needs to be forced to stop even if you must call child services.

Don't either of you  have a Mom or aunt that can help you with these things?

  7. I Would Say No To Putting Your Child In Hot Water

  8. It's safe but it may dry her skin out a bit.  I give my daughter a bath twice a week because she gets a bit of eczema.  The rest of the time I just top and tail her.

  9. Bathing everyday is fine, but not necessary. Just moisturize afterwards. As for the cotton buds, your baby can actually get used to having stools emptied manually and never really learn to push it out on her own. So throw away all the q tips in the house!

  10. Stop with the cotton buds!!!! If shes still not going to the toilet properly then I would suggest getting her seen to at the hospital.  There could be something wrong.  Why on earth would you insist on putting things inside your baby anyway?!!

Its perfectly safe to bath your baby every day but I personally found it a little unnecessary - every other day is sufficient for a little one.

  11. Of course its safe to bath baby every day, why not?. Its not only to get it clean but its relaxing for the baby. Not sure about the cotton buds though, perhaps she could have a word with her Health Visitor.

  12. babies should be bathed daily...even if it is with a warm cloth. it does not have to be submerged in a bath tub. it is totally safe.  your wife should make sure she either oils or lotions the baby after each bath.  the hair can be brushed with baby lotion for a hair washing if soap and water is not used.

  13. Please please stop using cotton buds on your babys bottom you need to change your babys diet, give her or him a little sugar water, make sure its boiled water that is cooled with a little bit of sugar in it,my sister's little girl has been like that since she was born and she is now seven and still has trouble with her toilet needs and shes fine.So please i beg you stop with the cotton buds you are doing more harm than good

  14. It's safe to bath baby multiple times a day if you want to. Why would it not be - and whatever do you think it has to do with constipation or cotton buds?

If the baby is in pain from her ears, it's probably because your wife has pushed and compacted wax in there. She needs to stop before she does damage to baby's eardrums.

  15. It is safe but it might dry her delicate skin out. I bath my daughter once a week and top and tail her everyday.

I would go with what your dr says with the poo side. Have you tried extremely diluted baby fruit juice? flushed my daughter out nicely! Or damp cotton wall and stimulating her bum, my midwife done that to my daughter when she was having a bad time and it also worked, other animals do it to their babies and my midwife said it works on out babies too. Except animals use their tongues...ewww.

  16. Cotton swab: This is the most extreme way to stimulate the bowl. By taking a cotton swab coated with petroleum jelly insert the swab into the r****m. Again this is only in SEVERE cases when relief is needed immediately. tell her to listen to the doctor. as for bathing, there is no need to bathe a baby everyday. babies dont get as dirty as we do. just take a warm washclothand wipe down the genital area on days you dont bathe them. i bathe my son every other day. it wont hurt your baby, it can just dry them out. also you could save some water too!

  17. I actually bathed my first every day and it dried out his skin the doctor told me to wipe him down everyday and lotion him but only bathe him every couple of days.

  18. Your wife uses cotton buds on what? better not be the booty! please clarify on that.

Well, the baby is just as much yours as it is hers.

You have to come to a compromise on decisions.

It is not ideal to bath baby in hot water but warm water.

And baby is still young, it doesn't need a bath every single day.It won't hurt but baby is not crawling around getting dirty so there really is no point.

  19. Your child is constipated and your wife is using cotton buds?  I'm missing the connection.  She better not be stinking the Q-tips up his hiney!  If she is, tell her to STOP!  Its very, very, very dangerous!  Bring this topic up with your pediatrician at your next appointment.  If she's gonna be this difficult about it, then put her on the spot.  Tell the pediatrician, while she's standing there, that she continues to not follow his advice about the cotton buds and to please inform her yet again about the dangers.

As for bathing him/her everyday, its not necessary, but it won't actually hurt him/her either.  As long as the water is the appropriate temperature and his skin isn't drying out, then its fine.
