  1. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but the airline wont let any of you check in without each having a valid passport. You wont even be allowed to get onboard because the airlines get fined for letting people fly without the required documents.

    Find out if you can some how expediate her papers or make arrangements for someone else to care for her during the week.

    Check here to see what it's doing;

  2. can't you just add her name in the last page of your own passport ? i think you dont need a passport fot minor persons; just let the american authorities add on your own.

  3. No.

    The French will need a passport for your baby or they won't let her in.

  4. Assuming you are American, you will need a passport for your daughter.  No exceptions.  Because of child abduction, divorce and child slavery laws... the old days of "adding your children to your passport" are over.

    On the receipt you received for filing for (requesting) your daughters passport, you should find a phone number listed.  The number says something near it like "if your passport is not received within 2 weeks of travel date, call this number".  It is a 1-800 number and you should call them.  The process is the following: if you have not received her passport 2 weeks before your travel date (ticket already purchased); they will make an emergency appointment to have it processed before your travel date.

    I'd recommend visiting the US Dept of State's website for details concerning requirements or if you can't find that receipt-- they should have mailed one to you when they received your file.

    Again, if you already have her ticket purchased and are traveling within a couple of weeks; you can schedule an appointment to go into the nearest passport processing office in person to have it done on the spot (call the number and THEY decide the date and time of your appointment though-- you have no choice but to accept their date/time since you are asking for emergency reasons).

    Note though that their offices are regional; so depending on where you live in the US, you may have some distance to travel to do so.

    Good luck and bon voyage!
