My husband and I just had our second child and she is 10 months old now. I am also taking Paxil for depression. I know that the birth of a new baby, being depressed, and taking Paxil for it plays a big role in my need to not need that. But how long does this feeling usually last? My husband is being a great hubby by being understanding. Please only people who has been through this or know about this answer. Thanks to all in advance.

  1. I don't have my own experience with this, but my sister was on paxil for depression and it made her not be interested in s*x with her husband at all. She stopped taking it and started working on her depression with natural remedies such as exercise and vitamins and she got her s*x drive back in about a month. Plus she felt better about her body because she got in better shape and she said that made her more open to s*x. I hope you feel better. I would try weaning yourself off that medication. Its very common for depression medicine to cause sexual side effects.

  2. i had this prob. and wasnt taking anything i didnt want to have s*x untill right after my kid turned 1 and so did most of my friends so no worryies if he thinks he the only one not getting any tell him to talk to my husbad. oh and the anti depressant can stop you from wanting to have s*x

  3. It may be the medicine. Paxil is an SSRI antidepressant, and unfortunately they cause high rates of sexual dysfunction, roughly about 55-65% (from independent studies).

The dysfunction tends to fall into 3 categories:

    - loss of libido (not interested)

    - loss of arousal (interested, but not able to lubricate or become aroused)

    - inhibited o****m / inability to o****m.

  4. it may be the paxil... i lost interest on zoloft
