  1. no she will b fine

  2. is she having trouble focusing on you? (are her eyes both looking the same way at the same time and working together?)

    has she been sick?

has she a bruise or swelling to her head?

is she having trouble moving any of her limbs (it may not be her head she hit but landed on awkwardly on a limb)

    Is she very very sleepy?

if you answer yes to any of these then take her straight to A&E

Head injuries can cause problems for upto 24 hours after the accident, so be aware that if she i ssick tomorrow it maybe concussion and she needs treatment,

if she normally sleeps around now, let her, but check her every 15 mins, tickle the bottom of her feet and she should respond by moving them, or lightly tickle her cheek and she should 'smile' all these indicate she is still responsive and should be ok. but anything unusual then please take her to the docs straight away, you can never be too careful!

    hope she is ok x

  3. She will have many more knocks to the head! Unless she seems unwell, then I wouldn't bother taking her to the doctors. My son fell off the changing table at that age, and he was fine. I think I was more upset than he was!!

  4. Babies are a lot tougher than we give them credit for.

I was running with an eight month old while it was raining because tornado sirens were going off, well, I slipped and fell with him.

He hit a very small part of his head on the concrete, even though I threw myself at a weird angle to try and get on my back so I could catch him. We called the paramedics just to be safe-

He was fine. When they came to look at him he had a little bump on his head, but was displaying all the normal reactions. Afraid when he was scared, laughed when he was tickled etcetera.

I was told by the paramedics that kids tend to fall a lot, and the only things to watch for are abnormal behavior and reactions, and of course, blood and bad bruising. =]

  5. I wouldn't worry about it unless she is acting weird or there is blood or serious bruising. that will me one of many falls....

  6. this happened to my son, my hv told me that since he cried but was easily consoled he would be fine, if they don't cry or won't stop crying is when you need to get them checked, (this was talking about a falling off a bed or stumbling and bumping their head type bump) i'm sure she'll be fine unlike you she will have forgotten about it by the morning!

  7. She should be alright. Just watch her to make sure her head isn't swollen and there's no severe bruising. Also, make sure her pupils aren't dilated either. If any of those occur, I would take her to the doctor immediately. Otherwise, she's probably fine. She was probably just crying because it scared her more than it hurt her.

    Good luck!

  8. there must be a bump but im sure shes fine! however if it doesnt go away in a week (max) then yes u should go just to be on the safe side!

  9. Its up to you obviously but you'll be off to the doctors every five mins from now on - baby's fall - it is up to you to judge whether or it the fall needs looking at...

  10. She should be ok but check her head for swelling.  If there is  then get her checked out.  Swelling on the scull is #1 sign of fracture.  If she seems happy and back to normal then she should be ok.  My boy fell of off bed already too. he 6 months.

  11. hi, how long ago did it happen? just check her pupils, are they responding to light? did she fall on floor boards? chances are she may not have hit her head, but dont let her sleep for a good few hours.

  12. yes you definetly need to get her checked out. She could have a bleed in her head or a skull fracture...she needs to be seen at least and make sure she is okay. Dont fool around with injuries to babies heads.....

  13. Babies are pretty resilient to knocks & falls, i'm sure she's fine if she looks & seems ok, just keep an eye on her, if she acts different take her to a doctor :)

  14. all babies fall off the bed at some point, if she is responding normally i would say not to bother, however for peace of mind, it's your call!

  15. Did she fall feet first or did she roll off??

My son fell off the bed feet first and he was OK so just took him to my baby clinic and the health visitor said he was OK.  If you think she is too sleepy or if you have any doubts or you just want to put your mind at rest, take her to the doctor..

they say if there is any vomiting or loss of consciousness you should go immediately to Accident and Emergency.  XX

  16. Just call the dr. No need to take her there. The dr will give you signs to look for in case of damage.

  17. As long as she seems happy and alert and still focuses on you as you move she should be fine, maybe don't let her go to sleep for a while as it may be concussion. If you are worried phone NHS Direct, they will give you any advice you need.

  18. Give her some baby tylenol and monitor her for a few hours.  Check the shape of her head, make sure she is acting normal and eating normal.  If she acts unlike herself, stops eating, sleeps too much, or her head shape changes, bruises really bad, etc, go to the hospital.

Also feel free to call your local hospital and ask them if you think that her injuries are bad, they can let you know if you need to come in, and put your mind to ease.  It's better to be safe then sorry, so call them if you feel the need.

This happened to me awhile back, and I also know many other families I've nannied for, their children have fallen off sofas, beds, etc.  Most of the time the baby is ok.  It's super scary and it's your sign that you can no longer leave her alone on any high surface.
