She is 2 months old. She poops like once a day but it is small and very solid and she has a hard time going.

I tried Karo syrup mixed with water, didn't work

What else can i do for her?

She has a doctors appointment on Wednesday already so i am going to ask her about it again there.

  1. Once when my baby was constipated I gave him a couple of ounces of water and that worked.  A friend of mine did the same, but she alternated it with formula every other bottle.  The first time my baby was constipated (around the same age as yours), I did what my mom once told me, I put a glove (or piece of saran wrap) over my pinkie finger and put a little Vaseline on my finger, then I just put the tip in my baby's r****m, (til you couldn't see my nail bed, i have small hands), it didn't hurt him at all. As soon as I took it out, INSTANT bowel movement. I told his ped that I had done it, and she said it was okay. I know it sounds gross, but my mom told me to do it and it worked.  GOOD LUCK

  2. Wait until your doctor's visit! Giving your baby syrup or medicine isn't recommended without doctor input!

You'd probably need to change formulas. All babies can't drink the same formula and be healthy. If she's constipated, she needs a different kind that DOESN'T make her constipated.

But nonetheless, see what your doctor recommends her to try. She'll be fine until Wednesday!

    Good luck! <3

  3. The Karo syrup is not recommended.  Talk to your doctor.  Your doctor might suggest a glycerin suppository, but it might be the formula.  Soy formula isn't good for infants, it's not very nutritious and can cause constipation.

Edit:  The baby is 2 months old, do not give apple juice or cereal as suggested by another poster.

  4. At such a young age, I don't think it is safe to try to medicate at home.  I would wait until the doctor's appointment.

  5. I had the same problem with my son around that age. The Prosobee tends to make them a little more constipated too. You can try glycerin suppositories, but DO NOT use them frequently, as this can cause her to depend on them. Avoid giving gas drops, they can also cause constipation. Try giving her 1 ounce of pear juice (it works better than apple or prune because it does not cause as much gas) mixed with 1 ounce of water. You can find Gerber baby juice by the baby food in most stores. This has worked wonders for my son, and we now give him a juice bottle every morning. Good luck, I knwo it can be miserable, but the juice really does help. Oh, you can also use a thermometer with a little vaseline and insert it into her r****m (just as though you were taking her temp., and wiggle it around in small circles). This stimulates a bowel movement.

  6. There are baby versions of apple and other juices which you can give at that age.

The other thing of course is: put a baby size glycerine suppository in her when she's starining to do a smelly, it'll make her do a big one in 5-20 minutes

  7. here's a link.

    http://www.liddlekidz.com/massage-for-co...

its baby massage that helps with constipation. it worked for my little ones

  8. I am sure your docotors office has a call service.  I would use it and ask them to find out what you can do for your daughter. they will probably have to change her formula to make her not so constipated..  My duaghter was so bad that they did tell me to give her some juice but that was at 3 months. I would definitely call your doctors office and have them call you back so you can find out what you can do.

  9. Is she bottlefed? If so, ask the doctor if you can put an ounce or two of prune juice in with the breastmilk or formula. If she is exclusively breastfed with no bottles, there might be something in your diet that is stopping her up.

  10. Well apple juice is good try some apple juice.  Then if that doesn't work what my happen is that the doctor may prescribe some kind of stool softener.

Is she getting cereal in her diet, sometimes that could cause some constipation.
