We live in the US and plan to stay there but I'm sure my husband will want to travel to South America sometime. My husband's side of the family is hispanic (Bolivia) and they usually abbreviate every name or come up with a shortened nickname version of a name. Also as is known Spanish speakers tend to say everything as it is written. I just want to make sure that it will not cause any problems for my son later.

  1. idk

  2. Well, with a Spanish Pronunciation Connor would be pronounced Cohn-Nohr

So it would not be too bad. As for shortening it, that is up to the creativity of people who nickname him.

  3. HOW ABOUT

    CONEL -

    I KNOW IT MAY SOUND

    KINDA WIERD

    BUT TRUST

    ME

    IT HAS GOOD MEANINGS.

  4. I dont think so I knew a spanish family the oldest son names was like avana and the youngest was like ferevo but the middle was charlie lol

  5. I don't see a problem.  You may try having a spanish speaking relative of your husband's pronounce the name.  I did that with my daughter's name, because my mother's side of the family is spanish and I wanted to give my daughter an english name. It's always a good idea to make sure the spanish side of the family won't mess it up.

  6. This is definetly not a spanish name and do you want your son to be called con for short?

The name Connor comes from the Irish origin.

In Irish The meaning of the name Connor is: Strong willed or wise 'Hound-lover.' Also from the Irish 'Coachuhhar', meaning high desire. Famous bearers: In Irish mythology Connor was an early king of Ulster.; 20th century Irish diplomat Conor Cruise O'Brien.
