  1. its ok my son seemed yellowish too i just let him lay down in his bassinett by a window that sun shines through not to bright tho and it will clear it on up !!! within a few days good luck

  2. i agree with everyone else, it sounds like jaundice which requires a blood test and sometimes special lights and i had to supplement with formula with my first baby when this happend, they said she was jaundiced because i wasn't producing enough breastmilk for her.  i hope your baby is ok.

  3. If it's jaundice, our pedi suggested laying baby in front of a window for several short periods in only his diaper durng the day....Also she said to take him out and lay him on a blanket in the yard in his diaper for play time or while I nursed....the sunlight helps take the jaundice yellowing away. We moved my son's pack and play up against our large front windows with the blinds pulled up and left him in a diaper while he slept in the pack n play for the first 3 weeks or so and it worked miracles!

  4. He has jaundice. Take him outside and give him some sun. Also when inside your home open up the blinds so sun light comes in. You should definitely let the dr know just in case. But I'm pretty sure once your baby catches some sun all will be well.

  5. You should take him back to the dr to get a blood test. You want to find out HOW jaundice he is so it doesnt cause damage. If its only a little, you can leave him out in the morning sun (so its not too hot) with only a diaper on for 10 minutes only. Not too long, sun can do damage.

  6. He my be a bit yellow, but not be classified as having jaundice. If he is eating well and is peeing and pooping regularly, he's probably fine. If you notice it gets worse, or is not getting better in the next day or so, talk to your physician. It's better to be safe than sorry. Good luck!

  7. If he has jaundice you should have been told this in the hospital and advised on what to do. You are also supposed to take the baby to see your own Dr within the first 7 - 10 days for another check-up, so I would think you should have raised this issue there, or the Dr would have brought it up if it was a problem. So if you haven't been to the Dr yet, I would suggest you go. In the meantime, undress bubby to his nappy & put him in a bouncer/rocker/whatever in a spot that gets plenty of natural light, eg, near a big window or the door. Avoid putting him in direct sunlight though.

  8. Jaundice time span varies for each infant. Zoom to the hospital if you cannot see your GP tomorrow.  At 12 days old and if his colouring is the same; he requires checking to rule out all other causes. After this, ensure your local baby clinic nurse is checking him weekly for everything.  The clinic visits are free [if this is your first baby and were not made aware by a hospital previously] or midwife at home.

Do not wait any longer to have him checked out.  Popping him in the sunlight for short periods is fine, however turn his head/eyes away from the window so the glare does not cause pain and ensure his fluids are kept up on warmer days.

He will be fine once looked at and weekly thereafter for the first few months. Keep up your top parenting and pat yourself on the back. Best wishes.

  9. My daughter had jaundice when she got home and i had to put her basinette near the window when she slept they say natural sunlight can fix it (it did in my case) if your worried go see your doctor.

  10. Jaundice can be serious. You need to take the baby back to the doctor to be assessed. Depending on the severity of the jaundice, the baby may need medical treatment.

  11. Has he seen the doctor to rule out jaundice? You need to call the doc if he hasn't. If he is jaundiced, he needs to see the doctor. However if the doctor ruled out jaundice then the best bet as my doctor told me is to take him out for a walk in a stroller in the sun, or sit in a sunny spot by the window. The natural UV light helps filter the bilirubin which causes the yellowing.

    Good luck

  12. Still after 12 days? Better get him to the docs for a blood test. If his jaundice level is higher that should be for his age, he'll need light therapy.

Don't worry too much though, with every day that passes, his little body can handle the effects of jaundice better. Your doc will be able to explain it to you in detail :)

    Congrats and good luck!

  13. go back to your doctor he could be jaundice. its a liver problem in babies. easily fixed but you need to take him asap.

  14. Like everyone else has told you:

    1. go see a doctor if you haven't yet. If you have and there was concern, he/she would have said something

    2. let your child meet mr. sun for short periods of the day

    3. You don't need a blood test to find out if he/she is jaudice - that hurts them like crazy - I bawled when they did that to my son. There is a little nob they can hold to different places on his head to check - non-intrusive.

    4. If your baby is jaundice - it is curable by light therapy which - is non-intrusive

    5. If you are breastfeeding babies can be slightly yellowish for longer than formula fed babies - up to 6 weeks!

My son was yellowish for a long time. Now he is snow white  - so don't panic.. but do ask a medical professional.

  15. Did the Dr. say he's jaundice?  Or give you any idea why his skin might be yellow?  If you're concerned, get in touch with your Dr.

  16. Jaundice can sometimes  linger on for a bit. (Breastmilk jaundice [100% harmless] can last for months.)   If you go back to the doctor he'll check baby's bilirubin levels.  If they aren't worrisomely high and/or are clearly dropping from his earlier levels, baby is probably fine, and you'll just have to wait for the numbers to drop.

If the levels ARE too high, or they are going up rather than down, the doctor would probably want to treat the baby and/or do some tests to rule out serious problems.

  17. Your baby could have jaundice. I had it when I was a baby and I had to go into an incubator!
