  1. Is she rolling over? Is she crawling? If sitting up on her own is the only milestone she has not reached yet, I wouldn't be too concerned, but if there are other developmental delays, I'd ask the pediatrician about having an early intervention evaluation.

  2. I would take your child to get checked just in case. make sure he/she has no spinal problems. catch those things early. better to be safe then sorry!

  3. No don't worry.  Babies hit different milestones at different times.  If a couple of months go by, mention it to the doc.

  4. She might be doing it very soon, My girl didnt until 8.5 months I think.  All babies are different.  My girl started walking very early at 10 months, and she could roll over at six weeks!!

  5. Probably not.  Some babies begin sitting up on their own around 6 months, but it still takes some time to master it.  About 90% sit up pretty well by 8 months or so, but you're just turned 8 months, and some babies will wait a little longer before really trying anyway.

When you say that she is not sitting up on her own, do you mean that if you put her in a sitting position, she won't stay up at all, she just immediately falls over?  Or do you mean that she sits for a short period and then falls over?  Or do you mean that she won't go from laying to sitting on her own?

If it's that you put her upright and she immediately falls over, you might want to talk to your doctor, just to be sure everything is okay.

If she does sit up for a few minutes before falling over, then she's perfectly fine.

If you mean that she's not going from laying to sitting on her own, that's perfectly fine too, that normally takes a little longer to figure out than just balancing when you sit her up yourself.

  6. I wouldn't worry about it. Many babies take their time in mastering different milestones. Your baby might not be sitting up by themselves at this time, but may be learning a whole different other things that other babies aren't.

A friend of mines 9 months old wasn't even rolling over yet, but he's already standing up by himself for 5 seconds!
