She doesn't wake up, but every few hours she will let out a couple cries, I go check on her and she is sound asleep. Is it possible for her to be having nightmares? She moves a lot too.. how can I help her sleep be more restful?

  1. My parents told me that as a child I had what are called night terrors. They would wake up to me screaming in the night. They would try to wake me but could never get me to wake up. I would only continue to scream until the nightmare stopped, I guess. They said that it passed with time and the only thing they could do was support me and wait it out. It shouldn't hurt your baby. They probably won't remember their dreams once they get older. I don't have any ideas what I dreamed about. I didn't even know that I did this until a few years ago. But, I'm also not a professional so if it gets serious then it might be wise to ask a professional about it but I'm positive that it merely a phase and should not traumatize the baby.

  2. mine is the same - first few hours he's quiet, but from aout 4 or 5am he is restless. i think they're just getting used to sleeping through the night. how old is she? my boy talked in his sleep last night! i think he needs to go in his own room so i don't wake at every murmur, but then i'd have to get out of bed to check on him!

  3. Yes, it is possible that your baby is having night terrors.  There really is not much you can do for your baby at this point.  It is sort of scary but they do go away.  My son was doing this a few months back and I was scared...I thought he had something.

It is perfectly normal at this age.

  4. My 16 month old recently did that and i carressed her cheek and she stopped crying in her sleep.  I think it made her feel reassurrance that i was there for her when she needed me in her dream.
