My baby sis who's 5 is abnormally hyper?

Sometimes she seems normal, but then all of a sudden she bursts into insanity. For example, sometimes she screams and randomly punches people for no apparent reason. Discipline has failed to produce any desirable effects, so I am assuming she has a mental illness. I heard removing tonsils can make kids calmer, but could it be due to another reason? My baby sister is VERY hyper, and being in the same house with her is difficult. PLEASE, I want her to be CALM.

  1. I have the same problem with my little sister who's 4...she's really hyper and we don't know why...dicipline works but then again it doesn't but my mom says that its a phase that she's going through and that she might outgrow it but if she doesn't then we have a problem...I would suggest asking a doctor (we're thinking of doing that) but just be patient with her and she might outgrow it (which we all hope)

    Good Luck

  2. Has she ever been tested for ADHD?

Also, what kind of foods does she eat?  A lot of processed (packaged) food?  Sugary food?  That will do it with some kids.
