  1. How old is he?

  2. Try unbundling your baby and if that doesn't work try tickling the feet. My daughter was like that after I had her. Usually they say it happens when you were given drugs during labor.

If it's jaundice your baby will have yellow eyes and yellow skin color. If he/she does just put your baby in the sunlight.

  3. If he's a newborn, to keep him awake you can try to:  strip him down, change his diaper, sit him up and lay him down on his back over and over (rocking him back and forth), put a cold washcloth on his feet, tickle his toes.   My son had a bad start feeding and ended up not being able to wake up and suck because he didn't have enough nutrition for energy.  Consult a lactation consultant if that's the issue with you.  If you're just worried about it being mean to wake him up, remember that you're doing what's best for him.  His tummy is so small, it's important that he get frequent nutrition and you need to be  stimulated by his sucking to establish your milk supply.

If you have an older baby who's awake at night and sleeps during the day, then you should definitely be waking him during the day so he's tired at night.  If you have an older baby who sleeps all day and night, call your pediatrician or advice nurse and tell them how long your baby is sleeping, it may be warning signs of something wrong.  My oldest developed anemia and, once diagnosed, we finally realized why he "slept so well"

  4. The first month of my daughter's life we had to poke at her, tickle her, talk to her, rub her face, etc. to get her to stay awake. Maybe try these things to wake him up. You don't need to wake him up every 2 hrs. to feed him. They say at that age they need the rest. Don't let him sleep more than 5 hours without a feeding though.

  5. How old?  He could have jaundice.  It happens a lot in newborns, and sleeping/difficulty in waking is a symptom of it.

  6. my sone was small when he was born and I had to wake him every two hours to feed him, he also would never want to wake up, I then would get a Ice pack and put in on him in various locations just till he woke up enough to feed, then after about a month of that I would wake him ever three hours, Try that may sound mean but it works

  7. Strip him down to diaper and wipe his face with moist cloth. My lactation consultant told this to me at the hospital. We somehow had to feed our daughter to remove jaundice from her. We had to feed her so that she would pee and poo as much as she can.
