My baby son wont ever sleep?

My son is 8 months old, he use to be a great sleeper...would sleep like 3 total a day of naps and then a good 12 hours at night. Now he is so horrible, he gets up at 4 AM and wants to play, to get him to go back to bed is impossible. Then he never naps and just literally a grouch most the day cause he is so tired. I'm so miserably exhausted. I am also pregnant with #2, throwing up every day, basically feeling like I've been hit by a truck and I want my happy sleeper back! What could be the problem? He is teething, but his first tooth wasn't this bad. Thanks all

  1. He is probably teething.  Pain is the usual culprit when sleep is interupted.  Check his mouth for teeth.  If he has any coming in, rub Hurricaine gel on them, not orajel. Orajel is a waste of money.  Go the pharmacy and ask the for hurricaine Gel or order over the internet.  Don't wast your time on anything else.

  2. That doesn't sound to good.  If he is staying up all day then he should be sleepy come night time.  I would consult with his pediatrician and see what they suggest.  The idea of him not getting any sleep is not good for his health.

  3. put a little rum like a teaspoon in his night time drink he should sleep hella good and it wont damig his brain cells or harm him in eny way

  4. Hi,

I think the most important thing to start with is to get your baby into a good sleep routine.  I had massive problems with getting my 4 month old son to sleep.  He would just lie awake and cry for hours, then when he finally went to sleep he would wake every hour or two hours through the night and cry again!  Talk about pulling our hair out .... we were absolutely desperate for sleep!

It was a baby sleep audio program recommended by a friend that finally saved us. We followed the advice and began by creating a baby sleep routine which included bathtime, dimming of the lights, putting James into his crib, final nappy change and then lullabies. We also made recommended changes to his naps during the day and used some of the other recommended techniques. Within two weeks he was sleeping through the night most nights with just the odd night where he would just wake once!

Definitely start by creating a good baby sleep routine though and you could find that solves most of your baby sleep problems.

    Good luck!
