My baby sticks her finger all the way up people's noses?

Question

My baby sticks her pointer finger all the way up people's noses when they hold her, and before they can stop her, they have a nosebleed. She just turned 1. When she does this, we grab her hand down and tell her no, but she already got the huge reaction she was looking for. She has caused 3 nosebleeds and 1 burning nose already. I keep her nails short, but her finger is long and slim and can slide really far up there in a millisecond.

How can I get her to stop this?

tie her hands to her feet?

tell anyone that is about to hold her that she does that, and when her hand goes to do it, tell them to put her down on a couch or floor, etc.  then they need to keep on putting her down until she learns.  if she doesn't get a reaction, then she'll get bored.  she's 1, so she knows the difference between the word "No" and what she's supposed to do.

and, I'm sure that she isn't THAT fast, that no one can stop her.

You're not alone - my little girl does the same thing (15mos) and beyond saying no and not laughing when she does it, I don't think there's very much you can do about it (other than warning people).  Just know she will grow out of it.

lol. that is gross but it's so funny and cute :D. She's just experimenting which they will continue to do indefinately. She'll find something else to do before long.

wow and ewwwww...... stop her by keeping her sat down and tell her no in a strict voice and hold her before u let someone else hold her and remeind her and give her a treat every so often if she does good. and keep her hands busy is a must give her a little toy or a teddy bear good luck

LOL it is a gross thing kids do... but she will outgrow it. Just keep working with her on getting her to know that boogies and nostrils are off limits! Until then just keep some antibacterial wipes/gel with you and some tissue for the victims of the finger!!!

This is very normal, babies love doing this. They get a kick out of watching ppl's reaction to pain! Did you ever see the movie Big Daddy? If so do you recall the part where the kid wouldn't stop crying because adam sandler yelled at him in Mcdonalds and to get him to stop crying he jumps in front of a car when he realized his pain was humerous for the child????  

Anyhow same senario babies get a kick out of it right now my baby is bitting to the point blood is drawn and laughs when anyone flinches with pain.......the only thing that works is consistency.......you could try popping her hand each time she does it, some kids get upset with a firm face.....you have to see what works in your situation.......but if you can and also warn ppl before they hold her.........try to give no reaction if possible, if no one reacts......it won't be funny anymore!
