My baby won't stop crying!

She is 2 months old now, and she cries all the time! No joke! It is nonstop unless she is sleeping, which she rarely does for a long period of time. It isn't a "hungry" cry or anything, it is a "hurt cry". The doctor performed tests and ultrasounds, but everything is coming back normal. He prescribed a medicine that is usually for controlling the pain for stomach ulcers and when I give it to her she stops crying for about an hour, but I am only supposed to give it to her twice a day. I refuse to give it to her more often because it may overdose her and that is a form of abuse. I really think it is a stomach problem though. It is definitely not colic. HELP ME!!!!

  1. Someone else already mentioned it but I highly recommend you get a sling or wrap.  My ring sling was wonderful when my daughter was that age.  She would calm down as soon as she was close to me.  Even now at almost two, she still likes to be worn.

  2. Is she formula fed?

If so, try breastfeeding.  Breast milk has natural tranquilizers and pain relievers.  (and no, it's not too late!)

  3. I had a baby that done the same thing but she had a hernia. I'm feel sorry for you I know how rough it is. Are you breast feeding? If so your milk may not be satisfying her. Also try running the vacuum I know it sound stupid but sometimes it helps to calm them down.

  4. Does she spit up alot, does she have normal bowel movements?  You may need a formula change.  I have 4 boys, the last two were twins.  My oldest, now 20,  ended up on soy formula.  My middle, now 18, on high calorie formula (preemie) and the last two, twins, now 4, on very easily digestible formula (Enfamil Nutramagin), they were preemie too.  Maybe your baby is having digestive issues.  My oldest who is now 20 had colic.  Back then they didn't give anything for it, so I know how trying, stressfull, etc., this can be.  I cried too, as I thought I was not a good mother.  I waited for him to outgrow it and I think he cried til he was 2!  They do and can do so much more now for babies that used to get the blanket colic diagnosis.  Hang in there.  Ask your Doc about formula or maybe even try another doctor.

  5. Both of my baby boys cried like that when they was little. The doctor said that it was not colic and that it was reflux. My mother told my wife that is was the babies formula but the doctor disagreed and continued giving my wife reflux medicine and the the first baby just kept crying night and day. I finally put my foot down and when against my wife and the doctor and changed it's formula to one that was for lactose intolerant babies and the kid stopped crying after the first bottle. It was a miracle the baby  started cooing and laughing instead of screaming and crying. I don't remember what the name of it was but i called it liquid gold because it about put us in the poor house. But it was well worth it

  6. try singing to her, laying her on her stomach on your lap and rubbing her back and patting it kinda hard (burping), maybe rock her also. i have a month old and she seems colicky to me.

  7. you should give her a pacifier.

  8. Go back to the doctor, they may need to try a different stomach ulcer medicine for her. My son responded well to Axid, but she lay need Lansoprazole.

  9. well i would say mabye your baby has a weak stomach an when the baby eats it just doesnt go down that good, an maybe the baby just crys alot because the baby wants to be held alot an carryed thats what my sister in law baby likes an if your not holding her she is crying lol so cute.=)

  10. PLEASE LISTEN.

Are you giving your baby cow's milk?  If you are, please stop with the cow's milk immediately.  Please don't dismiss this.  I have been reading studies about the effects of cow's milk on babies and like 90 something percent who were going through the exact same symptoms as your baby IMMEDIATE had relief when cow milk was removed.  DO NOT DISMISS THIS.  Try a soy formula or goats milk instead.  THIS JUST MAY DO IT!  PLEASE, AT LEAST TRY!!!!  PS.  When I say "cow's milk" that means formula or whatever that has cow milk or its biproducts in it.

  11. Could it be gas? Gripe water might help or maybe a heat on the lowest setting on her tummy. Just watch out for dehydration and put something between the pad and baby.

  12. Maybe she's teething?  Try giving her some Infant's Motrin.

  13. You are such a good mommy to trust your instincts.  I am not sure why your little girl is crying, but there are a lot of possibilities and I would recommend getting her in to a pediatric GI specialist ASAP.  You can look them up at your local childrens hospital or ask your doctor for a referal but do get her in there for sure.  It could be anything from Acid Reflux to Allergies to much more serious things like bowel malrotation.  In any case, she needs help.  Keep trying, you will get it figured out.

  14. Try talking to her softly, or sway her side to side while u are humming to her. that should do the trick. It works for my baby.

  15. Try carrying her in a baby carrier or sling. The movement combined with being close to you may help. It also leaves your hands free to do other things.
