My back yard is in direct sunlight all day and I'm wanting to put a pond in it, need help with location????

I want put koi in there once I get it up and running but I've read about it needing to have shade some. What would be the best thing to do to get shade on the pond for the koi?? Thanks

Plant a small tree or shrub which will hang over the pond, one of those spreading maples might be just right. Until it grows, you could rig up a garden umbrella.
