I went to pick my ball python up and it seemed to "huff" at me. Why is it doing this?

  1. if he does it repeatedly, even when you are out of his line of sight, he could very well have a respiratory infection!! This is serious and you should get him checked by a vet ASAP!!!! Left untreated it could kill your snake!!!!! WARNING it IS contagious to other snakes so if you have more than one you need to quarantine them!!!

  2. He's just bluffing. He doesn't want you to pick it up, but if you listen to him then he will do this all the time, and he will be hard to handle as a 5 foot ball python. Just pick him up. He shouldn't bite unless your hands smell like mice.

  3. It more then likely has a respiratory infection. Check your temp and humidity make sure it is correct and that it does not fluctuate to much because that is prob what caused it and if you do not adjust it it will defiantly die. If it continues for another few days take it to a vet.

  4. he might have a respiratory infection or he is defending himself.

  5. he is pissed off and doesnt want to be bothered

he sees you as a predator and is warning "stay away"

  6. My corn snake does that too. I thought it would go away but now that it's happening to someone else i'm a bit concerned. Contact me if you find out any more information.
