  1. Could be, if she is in a new environment, or if she is cold. Is your heat source warming part of the cage enough? And whatever you do, do NOT use heat rocks. They can burn reptiles when in direct contact. An under the tank heating pad with a thermostat controller is highly recommended.

  2. Snakes normally like a warm, dark place. I think it is normal. You know,it's not like she is an entertainer. I would like to share a funny little story about a python. I worked as a maintenance man a few years ago. Well, one day,my boss and I had to go check something out in a doctors apartment. After we finished the job, before we left,my boss told me that the doctor had a reticulated python in a glass case in the living room. Well, being of a curious nature I asked my boss if he thought the doctor would care if I looked at the snake, not take the snake out, mind you,but just look at the snake. My boss said he was sure the doctor wouldn't mind. I walked over to the glass cage and looked for the snake, but he was nowhere to be found. My boss said,"He's probably in his lil rock cave resting. I said ok and then I had a thought. I would shine my flashlight in the cave and that way I could get a look at the snake. Well,I bent down to the side and shined my flashlight into the entrance of the cave.Man,the next thing I knew is the snake striking out at me and hitting the glass. Man,I thought I had wet my pants and the boss was rolling over on the floor laughing his a.. off. So,don't ever shine a light into a snakes house. They don't like it.

  3. Usually when a reptile doesnt move around a lot it means that they are probably cold. I'm not sure if you have a heating lamp or rock for the python but if you dont, then i would suggest getting one for it.

  4. give her more time

  5. Yes, ball pythons are shy animals and don't like to be out in the open.  She probably does come out at night while you are sleeping - since they are nocturnal, but they aren't a snake that likes to "hang out" in the open.
