  1. a Yamaha has better quality :)

  2. Deffinately try Yamaha..

I was in band when I was your age- I had a yamaha trumpet, a very fine instrument..Very high quality!

  3. Yes, that would be a "cheap flute".  Your director wasn't referring to price, but rather to quality.  There recently have been a lot of instrument company like this that are making instruments that look good, but the quality in materials is not there.  Most repairmen refuse to work on them because the quality is so bad.  Stick with Gemeinhardt, Pearl, Yamaha, Armstrong or any other brand your nearest music store sells.

  4. your band director should have told you specific brands that are acceptable.

yamaha, selmer, jupiter, armstrong, gemeinhardt, all enjoy a good reputation.

don't get the one in the photo, it's a bad deal.

  5. Hi there,

Let me put this mildly....  Your band director is going to have a heart attack when he sees that flute.  It is CHEAP,  it is JUNKY,  it is ONLY GOING TO CAUSE YOU and the band class PROBLEMS!!!!

Flutes are not suppose to be fashion statements, dear.   They are intended to be serious musical instruments.  These Chinese pieces of junk...  are jokes....  laughable JOKES.  They are NOT suppose to match your band shirt, fingernail polish or uniform... and the Band Director is NOT going to think it is cute....  Trust me!!!

Though you paid $309.00 for that flute....  you can bet your arms and legs that it cost no more than $25.00 to make and can you imagine what kind of GOOD flute you can get for $25.00??

I don't know if you can take it back,  but let me tell you that everytime the band director looks at you and that flute,  he is going to be annoyed because he asked that no one buy cheap flutes.

    1.  You paid WAY too much money for a piece of junky flute

    2.  It is only going to cause you problems.  They do not play well,  they do not sound good, they break down every other day... and will fall apart before the end of the year.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I do think you were asking for a serious and honest answer.  As a flute teacher, that is what I gave you.

  6. Yes, for more durability and sound quality you'd better choose Yamaha instead of this one!
