  1. Buy a dehumidifier or two

  2. Go to your home improvement store.  Buy a dehumidifier.  Take it home.  Plug it in in your basement.  Turn it on high, and come back the next day and feel the difference.  Know how big your basement is, so you can make the correct purchase.  It isn't really that big of a deal!!

  3. You've received good answers especially the use of a dehumidifier or the central air in your home.  If your basement is unfinished or if you gain access to the foundation walls of the basement you can apply plastic/visqueen over the walls all the way down to the floor and caulk the very top of the plastic.  You're trying to provide a vapor barrier on the walls which would cut down on the amount of water vapor(humidity) you feel in the air.  The plastic should be thick and can be found in Home Depot or Lowe's paint departments.

  4. Dehumidifier or central AC to eliminate the dampness/ humidity!  No other choice.  Even an exhaust fan may help move the air but won't remove the humidity.
