Question:

My bathroom is really ugly...how can i improve it?

I bought a house recently and the people who lived in it previously must have put some kind of paint on the tub and the enclosure. Each time I clean it, more and more paint comes off. The walls around the tub are a cheap enclosure. What can I do myself that would be inexpensive? Could I rip out the whole enclosure (or will there be problems underneath it) and as far as the tub goes, can I just put one of the cheap tubs over top of it. I am looking for a very inexpensive fix. Does anyone have any advice?

  1. You now own your own home.  Bathrooms and kitchens are very important.  Yes, there are a lot of cheap ways to make these rooms look better, but is this really where you want to go?  I don't think so.  Wait until you have the money to rip out the bath and do it right.  You can have a company in to do a surround but again, this doesn't really add any value to your home.  It's merely a temporary fix.  Again, your money, your decision, but I would do it right the first time and wait until I could.

  2. go to a local hardware store and look for the decorate area and theres mostly people tehre taht can help you choose your style what u want.

  3. You can buy just the tub surround at a hardware store, but you may have to have it professionally installed. You could save money if you have a friend or relative who knows how to do it. Depending on what's behind the surround, you could tile around the tub. Home Depot has classes and books on how to do it yourself, plus, tile would improve the resale value someday.

  4. The only advice I could give you is too watch HGTV. Or go online @ HGTV.com. They all kinds of ways to really hook up any kind of room.
