Question:

My bathroom sink?

My bathroom sink is not draining. I've put 2 bottles of high powered draino and plunged it. When I run water, it still only sits there. To my knowledge nothing went down the drain. Maybe a few strands of hair and toothpaste, but that's it.

  1. You have 2 options for clearing a clog, Drano is not one of them.

1 when plunging a sink you have to cover the vent hole that is on the sink itself then you can plunge the drain.

2 the other method is to use a hand snake which you can rent or you can have a plumber do the job

Here is a suggestion after clearing the clog.

boil water and add baking soda to the water approx 1 table spoon to a quart of water also add vinigar this will create a foaming action and you can do this once a week to maintain the drains in your home

  2. remove the trap below sink, clean out and re-install trap.

  3. plumbing has to have a air vent, it is possible that it is clogged

  4. I would take the trap out from under the sink to see if it is clogged,  its easy to do most traps have nuts and s***w together.  If it is clean then the clog is in the wall.  use a snake to try to clean the pipe in the wall.  You can pick up a cheap one at any hardware or home store for a few bucks.   I wouldn't put any more chemicals down the drain.  They dont work very well and only fix very small clogs.   If your pipes are accessable under the floor its easy to cut them and replace clogs but that may not be an option for you.   If the trap is clean and you cant clean it with a snake you will probably have to call someone to clean them.  It usually doesn't cost much,  call around and ask their price.   I am a Plumber,  good luck
