My bathroom walls are ruined, Is it my fault?

I am renting my flat and when I moved in the bathroom had just been decorated. The paint on the walls in now all cracking off, it's really quite bad. During the winter I didn't open the windows when I was having a bath/shower because it was too cold. Is this the reason why the paint has cracked? There is absolutley no mould on the walls. Will I loose some of my deposit for this or do you think they used the wrong type of paint?

  1. it sounds as if the last person to decorate the bath room did not prep the walls ie clean down with flash or sugar soap then use a bin sealer from most hardware stores then use a vinyl silk emulsion  vent the bathroom even if you leave the door open that will help its not your fault that the paint is peeling off  good luck

  2. its all your fault you idiot! its your fault your bathroom walls are ruined! its your fault people die! its your fault ther is a war going on! I HATE YOU

  3. Sounds like somebody used water based paint over an oil based enamel with improper surface preparation.  Not your fault.

  4. cheap paint its not ur fault..there is wear and tear after moving out of a place they cant charge you for that.

  5. The peeling paint is a result of little or no ventilation in the bathroom.  I am willing to bet that you don't have a ventilation fan in the bathroom, do you?  The combination of cheap paint, and poor ventilation is the cause of the paint peeling.  The moisture is getting behind the paint and separating it from the wall.

    It's not your fault.

  6. It is not your fault,pal.. There are several reasons why the paint on the bathroom wall is cracking and lifting.

    1. Cheap paint or low quality paint

    2. Bathroom walls are not supposed to be painted. Paint when exposed to constant wetting will crack and lift. Bathrooms was supposed to have marble or tiles wall. Even teh so-called weather proof paint will crack and lift when it is always wet.

They cannot charge you for it.
