Question:

My battery went dead but now windows wont work.. any help??

last night my battery went dead on my taurus so i jump started it and got it running and drove around for a little bit. then i went to open the windows and the windows wont work along with the light on the ceiling and the mirrors won adjust. any help?

  1. i would double check the fuses for those circuits. if the car cranks over, they you have the power in the battery.  


  2. Trying to run the motor when the voltage was low may have pulled too many amps - you've blown a fuse.  Check your fusebox.  A lot of things run off one fuse, and everything you listed sounds like the kind of stuff that would all be bundled onto the same circuit.

  3. Could be a fuse or wiring trouble or loose connection.

Yes, Check your fuse box to see if any of the fuses that run the items you've mentioned have blown.  The fuses are small plastic blades that slide into a slot in the fuse box.  There is usually a printed index on the inside of the cover.  Find the fuse for the item not working and slide it out and look to see if any part of the metal element inside has burned out.  It will show as a gap in the metal.  If you see any gap, the fuse is blown and you'll need to replace it.  Auto Parts stores and many hardware stores stock these fuses, just be sure to match the amp rating stamped on the end of the fuse.
