  1. Sorry to hear about your back.  The players I know who have back problems usually have weak abdominal muscles, so work to strengthen your abs.  Do lots of crunches, bikers, etc.  -- but do them right, with your back pressed against the floor, so you're not hurting yourself even more.

Something else that I've seen cause back problems is your landing after a jump.  If you land with your knees locked, all the force from the landing ends up jarring your lower back.  So train yourself to bend your knees a little as you land.  That and ab strengthening will help you a lot.

Put ice on your back after practice to keep the swelling down.  And make an appointment to check with your doctor.

  2. my suggestion is to put an icy hot patch on your lower back during or before you've got practice or a game. those seem to help some..or even putting an ice pack on it may help...orrr taking an aleve or tylenol.

  3. I would check with a Chiropractor sweetheart, cause it sounds like you got a pinched nerve on your spinal cord.

  4. I play softball in college. Whenever my back starts to hurt I go and see my chriopractor. It really helps. Also try a T.E.N.S. Unit. It really helps.

  5. As they said, see a doctor.

Volleyball tends work your abs extensively which creates an imbalance in your body's strength. Often, when something hurts you have to look opposite to find an explanation.

Volleyball players tend to get sore backs (i do) and the way to compensate is to exercise your back muscles.

How do you exercise your back???

The easiest available exercise only involves dumbbells.

Standing, hold the weights to your chest and bend over as if you were trying to touch your toes and then straighten out again.  Don't arch your back or bend at your knees.

CAUTION:  Don't use a lot of weight when doing this as it will strain your back, you simply want some resistance.

  6. maybe u pulled a muscel in ur back or something. i would go see a doctor and tell him or her.
